A few days before Christmas, traveling entertainer Marc Stevens is stuck at nightfall in a remote wood in the swampy Hautes Fagnes region of Liège when his van breaks down. An odd chap who's looking for a lost dog then leads Marc to a shuttered inn.
Editor's Verdict
"The movie explicitly mentions being set 'a few days before Christmas' (Setting: Strong) and confirms a 'Christmas Theme' (Theme: Moderate). However, the genres (Horror) and the highly disturbing nature of the plot strongly suggest that the Christmas elements are used ironically, for contrast, or as a backdrop to the horror, rather than fulfilling the traditional joyous functions of a Christmas movie. The plot and resolution are focused on the horror, not on Christmas resolution."
