Three convicts escape from prison on Devil's Island just before Christmas and arrive at a nearby French colonial town. They go to the store of the Ducotels, the only store that gives supplies on credit. They initially intend to take advantage of them but have a change of heart after they find the family is in financial troubles.
Editor's Verdict
"The movie is explicitly set 'just before Christmas' and the narrative revolves around redemption and generosity, themes highly associated with the holiday. However, the core plot machinery involves convicts and crime, not traditional holiday concerns. The Christmas elements are strong enough to elevate it beyond a simple crime drama but don't fully meet the threshold for a definitive YES."
