"The movie is fundamentally a horror/thriller prequel focused on Norman Bates' origins and his conversation about matricide on a talk show. While it was released during the holiday season (a very weak signal), there is no evidence that the setting, plot, themes, iconography, or resolution are meaningfully connected to Christmas."
